Bad Buka in the Studio
Croatian band Bad Buka (formerly known as Panonian Wave) have been recording a great new album at Moody Mammoth. We missed their show at Mehanata (aka Bulgarian Bar) last week and seriously regret it. These musicians are badass and the party is relentless. They play almost weekly though at venues including Radegast Hall and Biergarten in Williamsburg and Shillelag in Astoria.
Feeling the Love from this month's artist Fiama
So, like any self respecting internet addict, I have set up google alerts about Moody Mammoth. Yesterday was sweet surprise when I found a blog entry referencing both Moody Mammoth and Stefano, written by Fiama, who together with her band are currently recording.
Here's what Fiamma had to say on her blog about working with Stefano:
Jam Session Streamed Live
Last Thursday night Moody Mammoth hosted its first live streamed jam session. Musicians Nemanja, Kirk Peterkin and vocalist Simona Schettini together with programmer Stefano Zazzera improved live to visuals mixed and projected by Adam Larsen of Hum Bar. Live mix by Leandro Gonzalez.
John Wallace - A man and a guitar.
Dear Moodys,
Artist of the month in the studio is Wallace. Rocking his guitar he worked hard on 5 excellent tunes in a magic mix of ballads, blues and raw rock... and yes the kid can deliver!
Easy to work with, open to different suggestions and in complete harmony with his ideas he kept his head down until his own songs became alive in the studio, then he looked at me and he said: I need a beer now!
So if you like Neil Young, Nirvana... keep an eye on Wallace and his new EP "Playing With Fire" coming out soon (he is mastering now).
ciao
Stefano
Beneath the Underdog records at Moody Mammoth
LA based Luca Crostella of Beneath the Underdog came into NY to play a gig at Central Park. He stopped by Moody Mammoth studio to say hi and record vocals and bass.
He shot a little video about his trip. I can't seem to embed the player but the link below will take you to it. You can see the studio and Stefano for a brief bit at about 1:00.

Improv Jam Sessions at Moody Mammoth
Last month DJ Manuel came to town from Italy. He was pretty into the studio, so we got some studio regulars together for a last minute jam session. What was supposed to be a quick jam extended well into the early hours of the morning!
We had the electro based works of DJ Manuel and myself, then Kirk Peterkin jumped in with electro cello and all those knobs...very interesting... Vocalist Kevin Steele showed up with Drew on drums and DJ Baked Potato on clarinet... getting better and better. Super Nemanja came in on guitar... oh yeah!
Rehearsal Space Rentals
Hi everyone-
Just a quick note from me about rehearsal space. For long term rehearsal space, we are currently fully booked, but we've decided to take the plunge and open up the studio for hourly rehearsal rentals. It's a (relatively) easy way for us to make some money while getting the word out about our new space, and the feedback we get from the constant stream of musicians that Stefano HASN'T made pasta a for is really encouraging. So, for at least the month of September we are offering a special rate of $25/hour in Studio C. If you want to book a string of rehearsals maybe we can cut you a break. Get in touch to see if we can help you out, and as always, tell your friends.
Take care,
maha
Testimonials
We collected all these kind words from past clients and figured we'd store them here. We love recording our clients work and like to think we do a good job- but don't take our word for it- listen to these guys...
"We went in to the studio with raw ideas. We were new to the whole process of recording a CD. But Stefano at Moody Mammoth studio helped guide us into a new world of possibilities with his patience, enthusiasm, and his wealth of knowledge and understanding of the musician's mind brought out the best of us. We are forever indebted and look forward to working with him again!"
Moody Mammoth Recording Studio & Mysterium Project break in new board!
AUGUST 27, 2008
The "Mysterium" orchestra recorded their session at Moody Mammoth Studio. The ensemble is loaded with great performers with such a strong music personality and good listening skills.
I personally engineered the recording session; we prepped the session in one week, lots of homework for me, mostly on the drums ... Eric Eigner is an accurate and strong performer who combines solid tracks with eclectic free styles... so in my ipod last week, lots of Stewart Copeland and Billy Cobham.
