"Steele's 2007 collaboration with Stefano Zazzera and Moody Mammoth, Tusk 1, is a sick, trip-hop infused blend of storytelling and strings..." -Culturesauna
Tusk 1 is an electronica project helmed by Moody Mammoth's Stefano Zazzera. The album began as an electronica experiment around Stefano Zazzera's programming in real time and Rolando Macrini's composition. The album found feet when Brooklyn singer Kevin McWha Steele came on board with critically acclaimed vocalist Stephanie McKay who duets with him on "Even If". Other credited musicians include: Richard Cohen (Steve Reich Orchestra) clarinet on "Even If", Serjio Reies and Jisoo Ok (Hector Del Curto Orchestra) on violin and cello in "Mass Migration Part 2."
Tusk 1, with it's accessible electronic vibe is suitable for theater, film, and commercial television projects. Moody Mammoth Music is able to provide full versions, remixes, and instrumental versions of any and all tracks of interest.
Notable successes to date:
• October 2007 - Track "St. Germain des Pres" is nominated as a finalist in the "Song of the Year" Contest to benefit VH1's Save the Music. (www.songoftheyear.com/winners/2007/072002.htm)
• September 2007 - "Because" is played on San Diego's radio show Sonic Boom.
• December 2007 - Zazzera tours Italy with Marco Messina (99 Posse) and Costanza (Tricky) where his remix of "Because" meets a warm welcome.
• January 2008 - "Fifteen", "St. Germain des Pres", "Eclipse", and "Father" are selected for Off Broadway show "The Artfuckers"
